What do other people do at 6am on Saturday?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I’m incredibly bored.

I’d be asleep right now, but that’s not an option.

I’ve been reading webcomics to keep myself busy. http://www.asofterworld.com/ is a new one for me. Lots of emo stuff, which isn’t helpful at the moment. Normally I’d resort to rereading tons of xkcd, but… no.

And now comes the really fun part of insomnia. When you get that incredibly tired feeling, and you want to sleep, but you can’t.

Facebook + Blogs

Yes. Someone did it. an RSS reader for facebook. Mad props to Sam for finding it.

Meh. Anyway. Photo postings of Kitteh and such should be coming soon, although probably not tonight. I’m feeling lazy and I’m going to attempt to work at a normal hour tomorrow. Here’s to hoping.

See you all… around.

Delevi’s modern life

No, I didn’t watch the original show.

I’m writing because I haven’t in a while. I’m past the whole phone debate. I went with an iPhone and an OtterBox case (highly recommended).

I’m wondering about the changing roles of blogs in the world of Facebook. Myspace was the popular item the last time I was really active in blogging, and I viewed blogs as a substitute for it. I think myspace failed because it tried to do everything, and did it poorly.

The more I use facebook, the more I think it’s best use is as a very thin social glue or framework. It’s certainly good for passing small amounts of information or photos around, but I find that other, dedicated tools do a better job. This is not against facebook. I’m by no means a facebook pro, nor do I necessarily desire to be. I am, however interested in its use as a social tool.

Meanwhile, outside of my home, winter is passing. The snow that’s been frozen all over chicago is now starting to melt, and my walk to work is almost enjoyable. And by the by, a walk is much better with either company, or music. I’d like to combine those, but I don’t think that the level of technology i’m looking for will be available for at least another 5-10 years.
